Howdy, I'm a Navy mom. My daughter is stationed in Pearl Harbor, where she and her fiance are expecting a surprise baby (a couple of years early). It really gets complicated when an active servicewoman is pregnant - she was already constantly teased and even harrassed just for being a female engineer. She got pregnant despite the Navy's birth control and has really suffered on her ship. The double standard really riles me, because I don't see the men harassed for all the children they strew around the world!
Also, is there any accommodation for grandmoms (like me) who want to support their children at important times, such as the delivery of a baby?

My son is currently serving in Iraq. This has been a very life changing year for him. He was married April 2009 and deployed November 2009. He and his new bride spent very little time as husband and wife since he was away most of the time with deployment training. The military was not a decision I would have thought he would make for a career, but he has taken on the challenge like a true soldier. I am so very proud of him. I pray everyday for all of our servicemen and women to come home safe.

My son and daughter-in-law are overseas.....they say the food and barracks are pretty good! When they were home in August, we didn't see much of them either...too many people, too little time!
